Center for Collaborative AssessmentEvaluations
Targeted Evaluation
A targeted evaluation addresses a focused diagnostic question or a need for updated information. We consider your concerns and any previous testing to determine whether this approach can adequately answer your questions.
It may be appropriate for a specific diagnostic question such as autism or ADHD, or when previous testing provides a foundation and additional assessment is needed to inform school or college accommodations.
Depending on the question, it may include an interview, review of prior records, selected testing, rating scales, and information from teachers or treating providers. Findings and recommendations are shared through feedback and a written report.
School Entrance Testing
School entrance testing includes an individually administered test of intellectual functioning and a written report for school admissions. Before scheduling, we’ll review the school’s requirements to ensure the assessment meets its needs.
Step by StepThe Evaluation Process
The stages below describe a comprehensive evaluation. The scope of targeted evaluations and school entrance testing is tailored to the purpose of the assessment.
Individualized Testing
I meet with your child in person to administer standardized assessments selected around their age, needs, and our evaluation questions. I take time to establish rapport, learn about their interests, and invite their own questions about what we are exploring.
I explain what to expect and build in breaks with attention to comfort, engagement, and fatigue. Alongside test performance, I observe how your child approaches problems, responds to challenges, and communicates their thinking.
Throughout the Evaluation: Building a Comprehensive Picture
I bring together testing findings, developmental history, records, and your observations of everyday life.
With your permission, I also gather input from teachers, therapists, and other providers. A school observation may be considered when it would help answer our questions. This information helps connect what happens during testing with your child’s experiences across settings.
Understanding the Findings Together
During feedback, we return to the questions that guided the evaluation. I explain the findings in clear language, including strengths, areas of vulnerability, and any diagnoses. We discuss how this understanding relates to your child’s experiences and what it means for support at home, school, and in treatment.
Recommendations reflect your child’s needs and your family’s priorities and circumstances. We take time to answer questions, consider what feels useful and feasible, and identify where to begin.
I also offer a separate feedback meeting for children and adolescents, with developmentally appropriate explanations and room for their questions and reactions.
Free Phone Consultation
We’ll discuss your concerns, what you hope to understand, and whether an evaluation would be a helpful next step. I’ll explain my approach and answer your questions so we can determine whether my practice is a good fit for your family. If another provider or service would better meet your needs, I can offer guidance about where to turn.
Parent Interview
Before testing begins, we’ll meet via teleheatlh for an in-depth conversation to discuss your child’s developmental history, strengths, and challenges, along with your observations of daily life at home and school. Together, we’ll identify the questions that will guide the evaluation. We’ll also discuss what to expect during testing and how to prepare your child.
Written Report and Follow-Up
Following feedback, you receive a comprehensive, understandable report connecting the findings to everyday life and outlining individualized recommendations.
One school meeting or consultation call is included to help communicate the findings, address questions, and support planning. If further support would be helpful, we can discuss appropriate next steps.
Private PayPayment and Insurance
The Center for Collaborative Assessment is a private-pay practice and does not accept insurance. Fees reflect the type and scope of the evaluation and are discussed before scheduling. Payment is due by the final testing session.
I provide a superbill, a detailed receipt that families can submit to their insurance company to request reimbursement through out-of-network benefits. Reimbursement depends on your plan and is not guaranteed. Please contact your insurer before scheduling to ask about coverage and any authorization requirements.
